Motorola – in the palm of your hand

The basic idea of this spot is abstract and artistic, exciting journey through the scenes in the life of our hero character with fluid transitioning through scenes, showing her interacting with her friends. She is a sophisticated but a little quirky urban girl – creative, cool, interested in arts and music and enjoying her life together with her friends. All this is happening in the palm of her hand.

We start on a black screen, the camera pans to the right. Beautiful, fluid, dotted lines come in and a hand unfolds itself, intersecting its lines, coming closer to the camera, revealing its palm. The camera follows the lines of the palm of the hand which extend and transform into a beautiful piece of (street-) art. While travelling along this black and white art, we realize that it’s a piece of art on a wall. The camera enters a room where we see the hero character who is actually painting a piece of art in a gallery, performance, or maybe in her home, together with her friends. They look at the painting and start to turn and walk away.
The camera pans along and crosses a girl whose scarf floats in the air, coming to the camera and occluding the camera with it’s black and white stripe pattern. The black and white stripes float along, giving depth to the scene, when we suddenly realize that they are now cones of light on a stage. The lights move along the screen, revealing a group of friends, giving a concert, jamming. A guy is playing the guitar, a girl is on the drums. While the camera keeps following their actions, we see our hero character coming in the frame, singing and rocking, her hair flowing through the air.
The hair occludes the camera again, diving into a black screen. Dots come up travelling along the screen.
We realize that they’re the cool psychedelic reflections of a discoball on the walls of a club. Our hero character is dancing with her friends in a nightclub, enjoying themselves. The cones of the lights turn the background to white.
In the last transition, the negative space between the cones of light become the lines on the palm of her hands. The hand folds, opens again, and reveals the Motorola KRZR phone.

This is going to be a beautiful, character-driven spot. The main visual element is the lighting of the environments which is used to transition seamlessly between the successive scenes. The spot is made of stark contrasts complemented by beautiful, flowing dotted lines to accentuate and highlight the flowing movement of the characters and environments.

The individual scenes are made up of the basic idea of changing the background from white to black and vice versa. Thus makes them interchangeable and adds the possibility of intruducing more and different scenarios. Other possible scenarios could be the girl with her friends on a vacation trip, maybe in a wood or in the jungle, introducing animals. The patterns of the animals could be a transitional moment. When she’s a rude girl, she could get a tattoo or a piercing. The tattoo could be a transitional moment. If she’s more artistic, she could silkscreen a TShirt. The artwork of the TShirt could be a transitional moment. All these scenarios open up beautiful and unique ways of transitioning from one scene to the next.

In the end, her experience is in the palm of her hand.
